Tom Garcia, President & CEO of InfoSight, Inc, speaks on NBC 6 Miami about surveillance camera systems at homes and businesses and how they are being compromised and broadcast live over the Internet.

The trend of using wireless security cameras to monitor a place of business or home remotely from another computer, or perhaps via a mobile app, brings to light new security vulnerabilities.

Owners of off-the-shelf wireless security camera systems are particularly prone to cyber eavesdropping, which means that live footage from homes and businesses around the globe is being streamed to voyeurs and criminals. This is primarily due to the user not changing the default username and password on their security cameras.

"The vast majority of the people have no idea that the inside of their homes or businesses are being broadcast all over the Internet," said InfoSight, Inc. President and CEO Tom Garcia.

Business owners and civilians need to know that security is of utmost importance now more than ever, especially since new technologies that offer convenience for the home and business are not always secure by default.
