From Storm Forecasts to Putter Champions: Highlights from NRECA Co-Op Cyber Tech Conference

InfoSight wrapped up the NRECA Co-op Cyber Tech Conference with DHS Chief Meteorologist Sunny Wescott’s expert briefing on extreme weather risks and celebrated David Eckert’s victory in our Putter Challenge.

Last week the InfoSight team had a fantastic time at the NRECA Co-op Cyber Tech Conference in Denver. We reconnected with longtime partners, met dozens of new utility professionals, and dove into lively discussions on the evolving OT/ICS threat landscape.

Keynote Spotlight
We were honored to hear from Chief Meteorologist Sunny Wescott of DHS Emergency Response and Operations Support. In her opening general session, “Low and Behold – Making Space for Weather and Hazards” (Wed., 6/25, 8:30–10:00 am), Sunny walked us through how extreme weather—from wildfires and droughts to tropical cyclones and winter storms—directly impacts emergency response, supply chains, and critical infrastructure. Drawing on her Air Force experience as a top forecaster, she showed us how operational meteorology and focused impact reports can give utilities the actionable insights they need before, during, and after disasters.

Putter Challenge Champion
Congratulations to David Eckert from Midwest Energy and Communications for sinking the winning putt in our Putter Challenge! David’s smooth stroke on the 9th hole earned him the coveted Odyssey square putter—and our admiration for rising to the occasion under pressure.

Conference Highlights

  • Our booth saw a steady stream of attendees eager to learn about InfoSight’s latest managed SOC and red-team offerings.

  • The panel on “Integrating Cyber Resilience into Grid Modernization” sparked some great cross-industry ideas.

  • Evening networking events gave us the chance to swap war stories—and golf tips.

A big thank-you to everyone who stopped by, joined our demos, and made the week so memorable. We look forward to seeing you at the next NRECA event!
