Cyber Attack on Medical Device Manufacture delays production of critical devices

Masimo Corporation, a California-based medical device manufacturer with $2.1 billion in 2024 revenue and roughly 3,600 employees worldwide, disclosed a cyberattack in a Form 8-K filed with the SEC on May 7, 2025. The incident, which occurred on April 27, 2025, involved threat actors breaching Masimo’s on-premise network and forcing the isolation of impacted systems. As a result, certain manufacturing facilities operated below normal capacity, delaying production and shipment of critical patient-monitoring devices.  Masimo emphasized that its cloud-based infrastructure remained unaffected, but the company is still investigating whether customer data was compromised or if there will be any material impact on quarterly financial results. The organization has engaged external cybersecurity experts and notified law enforcement, underscoring the critical need for rigorous network segmentation, continuous monitoring, and incident-response readiness in medical device and IoMT manufacturing.
